SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
The Galena Lions Club Service Scholarship has been established to provide financial assistance to a graduating high school senior or a current college student who resides in Jo Daviess County and is available to students who can demonstrate a spirit of service within their community.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a way in which they are presently in service to their community, and how they will continue to serve their community in their chosen field of study post-graduation.
Scholarships up to $2,000 will be awarded. The scholarship is for payment towards a students tuition, textbooks, or other materials required by the school.
A new application must be submitted every year. Scholarship recipients cannot receive this scholarship for more than four years.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
1. Accepted for enrollment or presently enrolled at a college, university, or other post-secondary education facility.
2. Have a current grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
3. Submit a 300 word (minimum) letter to the Galena Lions Service Scholarship committee detailing his or her past service experience, chosen field of study, how said field showcases his or her spirit of service, and the applicant’s post-graduation goals as related to field of study and service. Please note: essays found to be written with the use of AI will be removed from consideration.
4. Provide references from three (non-related) individuals in written form. At least two references must be high school or post-secondary instructors or counselors, or a present or past supervisor or employer.
